Some may be wondering what the term “gluten” means. Gluten is the protein found in wheat, barley and rye. Whether you have heard this term from a doctor or a friend trying a gluten free diet, it has become a common lifestyle change for many.
I first heard the concept of a gluten free diet when I was experiencing stomach pain and upper GI issues. I was told to eliminate gluten. Now that may be easy for an adult who has access to multiple food groups, but to a college student this is a slap in the face.
Diets take commitment and sacrifice. When you are told to eliminate the foods you love, you need willpower. I am a firm believer that things can always be worse– “where there is a will, there is a way”
